Back to Announcements Published on 08/03/2026Lake Whatcom Water & Sewer District, a special purpose government entity providing municipal water and sewer service in the Sudden Valley/Geneva/North Shore areas near Bellingham, Washington, is presently recruiting for an Accounts Payable/Payroll & Benefits Administrator.
This position plays an essential role in supporting the District’s financial operations and is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and technical accounting duties. These duties include accounts payable, payroll and benefits administration including full-cycle processing, retirement reporting, regulatory compliance and required quarterly and annual reporting associated with each function. The ideal candidate has knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, BARS accounting principles, payroll and benefits compliance to include tax regulations and reporting requirements. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, and committed to accuracy while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position works closely with employees, vendors, benefit providers, and utility customers and is an important member of our collaborative finance team.
The District offers excellent benefits, including WA State PERS Retirement, health/dental/vision insurance, a voluntary deferred compensation program with District contribution after one year, a HRA voluntary employee benefits account, and vacation and sick leave. The salary range is $38.57 to $48.80 per hour, DOQ. The position is represented by the AFSCME bargaining unit.
