Board Appoints David Holland to Fill Position Vacated by Commissioner Laura Abele

During yesterday’s regularly scheduled meeting of the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District (District) Board of Commissioners (Board), the District Board unanimously voted to appoint David Holland to Commissioner Position No. 1, which had been vacant since the effective date of resignation of Commissioner Laura Abele on March 31. Following extensive advertising and community outreach, the Board interviewed Mr. Holland during a special meeting held on March22, ultimately selecting him for the position. Per Chapter 42.12 Revised Code of Washington, Commissioner Holland will hold the position until the next election at which a member of the Board normally would be elected (November 2023).

Having resided in Sudden Valley since 1994, Commissioner Holland has developed a keen awareness of the needs of the community. Commissioner Holland holds a Bachelor of Arts in healthcare management and is currently employed as a senior administrator with Northwest Radiology/Mt Baker Imaging. In his free time, Commissioner Holland is active with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and Sudden Valley auxiliary communications emergency management response network.
