Lake Whatcom Water & Sewer District is presently recruiting for a full-time, entry-level Maintenance Worker I.

This position performs a variety of maintenance and operations duties in all phases of the District’s water distribution system, wastewater collection systems, water treatment plants, and reservoirs.  Incumbents perform manual labor in supervised repairs including maintenance, inspection, installation, meter reading and adjustment of all water distribution and sewer collection system components.  Works as part of an assigned crew and may receive specialized assignments as technical skills are gained.

This is an entry level position to the District’s Maintenance Worker II position.  Incumbents are expected to meet all necessary performance and certification requirements and be eligible for promotion to the Maintenance Worker II Position within two years of employment.

The District offers excellent benefits, including WA State PERS Retirement, health/dental/vision insurance, a voluntary deferred compensation program and District contribution after 1 year, and vacation and sick leave.  The salary range in 2019 is $25.32 to $32.32 per hour, with hire typically at the entry wage.  Incumbents in this position will be subject to both after-hours call out and overtime.   This position is represented by the AFSCME bargaining unit.
