Back to Announcements

Commissioner has resigned effective January 31

During a regularly scheduled meeting of the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District Board of Commissioners held on January 29, 2026, Commissioner Bruce Ford submitted a letter of resignation from Position No. 3 of the Board, effective January 31. Per Chapter 42.12 Revised Code of Washington, the remaining commissioners will consider and appoint a qualified resident of Position No. 3 to the Board. That individual will hold the position until the next election at which a member of the Board would normally be elected (November 2027).

A resident of the Agate Heights neighborhood on the north shore of Lake Whatcom, Commissioner Ford has served nearly 12 years on the Board. Commissioner Ford intends to remain a resident of the District and remain involved in the protection of the Lake Whatcom Watershed.

Board of Commissioners President Todd Citron said, “While saddened by the news, I would like to recognize and thank Commissioner Ford for his dedication to District customers and staff. Throughout his tenure, Bruce’s staunch support of the proactive replacement of District infrastructure has directly resulted in more effective and resilient water and sewer service, and his experience in the industry was of benefit to both his fellow commissioners and staff. It has been an honor to serve with him over the past 12 years, and I wish him well as a continuing customer of the District.”
