Request for Nominations for Appointment to Board of Commissioners Position No. 3

During a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District held on March 18, 2026, the Board nominated Nick Greif for appointment to the currently vacant Position No. 3 of the Board. In accordance with Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 42.12.080, the Board will accept nominations from registered voters of the District for appointment to the Board until April 6, 2026. Individuals nominated for appointment must live within the boundary that comprises Commissioner District No. 3, which includes the north shore of Lake Whatcom outside of Bellingham city limits wrapping around the south end of the Lake and extending into Sudden Valley Divisions 25, 27, 28, and 30.

The appointed person will serve from their appointment date until a candidate is elected in the November 2027 election. If the appointed person wishes to continue to serve on the Board, they must run for election in the Fall of 2027. The person elected at that time will serve the remainder of the unexpired term which ends December 31, 2031. Minimum qualifications for the position are:

1. Must reside within the boundaries of Commissioner District Position No. 3 as described above and shown on the District’s web site at www.lwwsd.org.
2. Must be a citizen of the United States.
3. Must be a registered voter within Commissioner District No. 3.
