Construction will begin on the Strawberry Point Sewer Pump Station project on June 1, 2016. The $368,000 Strawberry Point Sewer Pump Station project was awarded to Tiger Construction earlier this year. The project consists of replacement of the existing sewer pump station, improving site stormwater, retaining wall construction and mechanical, electrical and automatic control improvements for modern, submersible pump station. This project is expected to be complete by October, 2016.
The Division 22 Reservoir No. 2 project will add a 626,000 gallon steel water reservoir adjacent to the District’s 500,000 gallon water reservoir at Water Tower Court in the Sudden Valley Community. The project is currently out for bid with a bid opening scheduled June 2, 2016. Construction of the reservoir is expected to start Summer, 2016 and be complete before June, 2017.
Overview of the District’s Public Works Projects Bidding Process
For projects less than $300,000, Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District utilizes a shared small works roster to solicit bids for public works construction projects. The shared small works roster is administered by the Municipal Research and Services Center of Washington (MRSC). The MRSC Small Public Works Roster is an online system used by multiple Washington State counties, cities and special districts to connect with businesses who would like to provide construction, repair, or maintenance services for small public works projects under $300,000. Per State Statute RCW 39.04.155, public agencies may choose to use a roster as an alternative to advertising its project. Contractors who would like to be included on the shared roster or who would like more information can visit www.mrscrosters.org or contact MRSC at (206) 625-1300. Projects valued at more than $300,000 are advertised in The Bellingham Herald.
